A new proposal out of one California county could send shockwaves throughout the ag industry nationwide.
An animal rights group is collecting signatures to ban animal agriculture in Sonoma County, just north of San Francisco and west of Sacramento. The move would affect dairy and poultry operations, two of the largest animal ag industries in that county.
The animal group has already collected more than 18,000 signatures, and they need 2,000 more to get it on the ballot.
The state’s Farm Bureau says it is important to fight back on attacks like this.
