Earlier this month, an Arizona ranch dog helped bring a lost 2-year-old child to safety.

On the night of April 14th, an Arizona boy walked away from his house and was reported missing. The city of Seligman sprang into action with a 40-person search and rescue team. The efforts went on into the night, where temperatures saw lows in the 40s.

The following morning, a local rancher spotted his Anatolian Pyrenees, named Buford, walking down the driveway with the missing boy.

The boy had wandered almost seven miles away from his home. Buford found him under a tree while making his nightly patrols of the ranch.
Rancher Scotty Dunton stated, “He loves kids. So, I can imagine he wouldn’t leave him when he found him.”

Not only was Buford awarded a steak for dinner that night, but the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office also presented an Honorary Search & Rescue Certificate and a vest to the four-legged hero!
