Let’s Get Started!
This project is one of our favorites! Bill is happy as always and the colors are bright and cheery. Normally we don’t see Bill condition his canvas this way. When he says “condition” what he means is he is “blocking in” and preparing his canvas for what is to come.
This is the first part of a series of videos that will be shown this month. We do hope you will paint along with Bill.
Points To Consider:
- Bill coated the canvas with Magic White®. So the canvas is entirely wet.
- He sees the finished painting in his mind. He always has a story to go with his painting.
- Bill loved to sing and to begin his shows with a “happy song.”
- He coats his whole canvas with Cadmium Yellow but starts in the center of the canvas where he wants the color to be the brightest.
- He uses just a little bit of paint.
- Bill warns us to be careful adding blue to the sky with the yellow already in place. Blue will mix with the yellow and then turn green. He also shows us not to worry because we can always use red to fix it.
- Notice the darker the paint that he adds to the sides the brighter the yellow appears.
- He keeps using the same colors in different quantities until he has the background the way he wants it.
- This painting will be stunning when he is finished. Stay tuned for a few more Daily Tips, showing Bill as he continues this great painting.
