Busting Historic Droughts: An update on conditions in California and Arizona

The latest drought monitor showed some big news for producers in the Golden State.

For the first time since 2020, less than half of the state has some level of drought. That is compared to the almost 100 percent for most of the past two years. Even better news, California does not have any red on the map, meaning all levels of extreme and exceptional drought are now gone. This improvement is due to the ongoing rain and snowfall the state has been receiving this year.

Arizona is also in recovery mode!

Taking a look at conditions there, only 13 percent of the state is in some level of drought, with no extreme or exceptional conditions. Last year three fourths of the state was covered in drought, which led to crop and water supply issues for farmers.
