California Broccoli FarmHER Shines in New Episodes This Fall

Let’s meet FarmHER Katie Hitchcock, a Salinas Valley, Calif.-based sweet baby broccoli producer. She stars in an episode of the FarmHER, which returns to RFD-TV this September.

RFD-TV’s popular series FarmHER is back this fall with another round of all-new episodes, starting next Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 9 PM ET.

Let’s hear from one of those FarmHERs, Kate Hitchcock, who stars in an upcoming episode, transporting viewers to Salinas, California, a.k.a. the “Salad Bowl Capital,” where Hitchcock farms sweet baby broccoli.

Kate joined us Tuesday on Market Day Report to share stories from the show’s filming and insights into her work on her family’s farming operation, American Farms.

Danny Sights and her father, Mike Hitchcock, established the farm in the 1980s, and they remain actively involved today, along with another partner, David Gil, and second-generation family members like Kate.

Today, Kate leads a team specializing in cultivating sweet baby broccoli and broccoli, managing everything from planting schedules to harvest operations. She spoke fondly of her farming roots and the tight-knit agricultural community in Salinas Valley.

“The Salinas Valley is a very special community — everyone in ag is very tight-knit — just a very great group of people,” Kate said in her interview with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander. “Here in the Salinas Valley, a lot of this is built on relationships. We are so thankful for the relationships that we have — not only a lot of my relatives are involved in the farm — however, with the shippers as well. We are very thankful for those.”

Kate’s upcoming episode will air later in the season. The FarmHER crew observes Kate and her team, offering a behind-the-scenes look at daily life on a specialty crop operation. Despite initial nerves about being on camera, Kate praised the Farm Her crew, led by host Kirby Schnoor, for making the experience enjoyable.

Don’t miss the fall premiere of FarmHer on September 24th, airing at 9 PM ET only on RFD-TV — to catch FarmHER Stories like Kate’s, Kentucky beef FarmHER Moriah Hunter, and many more!
