Dairy Farmers of Canada call on the federal government, highlighting the effects of three successive trade agreements being felt by producers.
Host of RealAg Radio, Shaun Haney speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on what dairy farmers are asking for and if the government is stalling.
According to Haney, “This goes back a number of years, actually back to 2017. We’ve got three consecutive trade deals where the Canadian trade negotiators basically gave out some market access into Canada... The Dairy Farmers of Canada are basically saying that promises made should be promises kept, and really putting some pressure on the Canadian government to come up with a payment schedule to compensate, as promised, dairy farmers for this market access that was given up about 18 percent of our domestic milk production.”
