Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s expectations for the Biden administration

Canada and other countries hope a change in the White House will bring some of their key global issues back to the forefront in the U.S.

This week Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outlined some of his expectations.

“One of the things a lot of the traditional allies and friends of the United States are looking forward to is a re-engagement on some of the big themes, whether it’s free trade, whether it’s climate change, whether it’s protecting democracy in the institutions we have, or coordinating against some of the rise of authoritarianism we’re seeing around the world,” Prime Minister Trudeau states. “There’s a need for us to work together and that’s certainly something that I know a lot of us are looking forward to rolling up our sleeves on working all together on.”

He plans to meet with Biden soon after next week’s inauguration. Climate change is on his agenda. Biden has said he wants to invest $2 trillion dollars into clean energy.
