CA’s Caldor Fire prompts evacuations, burning almost 200K acres

Northern California’s Caldor Fire continues to burn, prompting evacuations. It has been burning since the middle of August and has spread because of dry conditions and high winds.

It has burned almost 200,000 acres and is only 18 percent contained. Almost 200 commercial or smaller structures have been destroyed.

Farmers are being encouraged to take precautions for keeping livestock safe.

We still do not know the exact impact this fire will have on ag, but here is a look at just how desperate people are to save their property: A Lake Tahoe ski lodge turned on its snowmaking equipment to try and protect its building, as the flames inch closer.
