China is buying more of every American farm product as the first year of the Phase One Deal comes to a close. Between October and August, China bought nearly $14 billion dollars of U.S. ag goods.
So far, soybeans are making up the bulk of purchases at $5 billion dollars. The USDA says the grain joins a long list of other major American ag products bought by China.
According to USDA economist Bart Kenner, pork exports are up 327 percent and corn is up 634 percent. Additionally, wheat and poultry products are both up as well.
Even though China is buying more than the year before, it is still far behind its promise to buy $40 billion dollars of U.S. farm goods.
