Close to 300 horses were rounded up and removed from public lands in Uintah County, Utah.

They were either abandoned, nuisance or stray horses that had to be removed as part of an executive order from the county. In total, it took in 296 horses, well over the goal of 175.

None of the horses had to be euthanized and 278 of them were returned to their owners.

The horses had to be gathered because they had begun wandering onto roadways, causing a threat to public safety.

It is estimated there were 500 horses in the area that needed to be removed.
