Colorado wildlife officials kill reintroduced wolf after chronic depredation

A wolf released as part of Colorado’s reintroduction efforts has been killed by wildlife officials following a string of attacks on livestock.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife says a wolf was killed after ranchers faced repeated livestock losses, despite attempting all non-lethal deterrence measures.

Four separate attacks were reported before officials took action.

The incident follows the launch of a new collar-tracking program aimed at helping monitor wolf movements. Not all wolves will be collared, but officials hope the tool gives producers a better chance to protect their herds.
