What a blessing for an England family as their “lifelong dreams” coming true after winning the lottery just days before their teenage son was declared cancer-free.

John and Allison McDonald won a £2 million lotto jackpot ($2.6 million USD) in one of the last draws of 2019.

John checked his ticket while at work as a security officer on December 18 and thought he’d just matched two numbers. He then noticed three. and was “over the moon” according to a local press release.

Once he had realized he had actually matched all six numbers, he said he began to shake and made a call to confirm the win.

As if that news was not life-changing enough, the couple received even better news that their 15-year-old son, Ewan, was given the all-clear from his battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Ewan had been receiving chemotherapy for the last year.

The couple has both handed in their notices at work according to BBC News.

John and Allison are now planning for their retirement, which includes plenty of traveling and family time.
