Dairy leaders urge producers to utilize direct payments

Analysts predict milk prices to plunge further in the upcoming months. Many dairy leaders are urging producers to capitalize on USDA’s direct payments under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.

According to Peter Vitaliano, a Chief Economist with the National Milk Producers Federation, The best way for dairy farmers to maximize the benefits is to work with groups like National Milk Producers Federation that are working very, very hard on producers behalf to make sure those payments are advantageous as possible.”

Under the program, dairy has access to $3 billion dollars in payments. The NMPF is working with the USDA to make sure that the UDSA’s formula to calculate payments is accurate.
