NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 16, 2024) – Emerging musical force and witty songwriter Dasha unveils her first country album, What Happens Now? available today. Returning to her country musical roots, the entire project pays homage to Dasha’s upbringing in San Luis Obispo, CA where the rich tapestry of country, folk, and Americana music shaped her distinctive musical identity.

Give It A Listen

The focus track “Austin” has had quite the viral moment this week, amassing over 500k streams in the 24 hours leading up to the album release alone. Last night at her Whiskey Jam debut, Dasha even turned her set into a full blown honky tonk, joining fans in the crowd to perform her iconic “Austin” line dance, something that has never been done before.

“Rooted in mature songwriting and a layered soundscape” (Earmilk), each track encapsulates a blend of thought-provoking lyrics paired with Dasha’s powerful ability to deliver her truth. Along with the four previously released singles, (“42”, “Austin” “King Of California” and “Even Cowboys Cry”) the four new songs round out a cohesive vision of heartbreak, longing, and a clear image of the narrative Dasha has perfectly spun.

“What Happens Now?” came from a single line in my notes ‘What happens now that we’re older?’ I took the concept to Louis Castle in a session this past summer and I told him I really wanted to write a huge banjo song but that’s all I knew,” Dasha explains. “We just took the idea and ran with it. I devised the hook melody on the spot as we cut the verse vocal. I don’t even know where the idea came from, sometimes magic just happens and What Happens Now? is one of those songs.”

Amassing over 12 million streams in her short career thus far, Dasha embraces her true artistry as she offers this full country project to her massive audience. She unapologetically expresses her story and connects with fans with her relatable lyrics.
