Get ready for orange juice prices to go up as industry experts say the U.S. could reach its lowest production in more than 100 years.
They expect just 16 million boxes compared to the average of 244 million. This is due to multiple hurricanes in Florida, a freeze, and a bacterial disease spread through the citrus trees. Up to 10 percent of the state’s orange trees were lost in the hurricanes.
Annually, Florida produces more than 90 percent of the country’s orange juice supplies.
