Expert breaks down easement payment tax issues

Rural landowners often receive payments from companies for rights-of-way or easements over their property. However, the various types of payments need to be reported correctly in order to avoid any potential tax consequences.

Roger McEowen with the Washburn School of Law spoke with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander on the main tax elements to keep in mind and if location plays a role.
