NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) As the 2018 farm bill rollout continues, lawmakers question the fraud prevention aspects of the bill. While lawmakers acknowledge that fraud by farmers and those on nutrition assistance is rare, they have voiced their concerns over some recent events. Allegations include $170 million stolen from a rural loan program, a Detroit store has been convicted of defrauding more than $2 million from a nutrition program, and another where millions of pounds of uninspected meat made it to market though fraudulent labeling.
