Last year, producers across the U.S. saw record-high input prices which had some waiting until the last minute to make their fertilizer purchases.
A fertilizer dealer in Wisconsin says many farmers they work with postponed their purchases last month. Typically, producers buy in early December but many were holding out hope for lower prices, which they say was a wise decision because the price did eventually fall.
The dealer says while they are not expecting drastic fertilizer price spikes like we saw last year, supply and demand could nudge costs up the closer we get to planting season.
