FFA Today: FFA Members Journey to Washington for National Ag Day

This week in Washington, National FFA members are advocating for the agriculture industry on Capitol Hill for National Ag Day.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD NEWS) — National Ag Day is on Tuesday, and a group of student leaders with the National FFA Organization is traveling to Washington, D.C., to raise their voices and share the story of agriculture with lawmakers and the public for this special celebration of agriculture.

FFA’s Advocacy, Literacy, and Ag-Based Experiences Manager Celya Glowacki joined us on this week’s FFA Today segment to discuss the exciting leadership opportunity for these FFA members and what it means for students to take part in this significant industry experience.

“I think it’s important for all of our students to be part of Ag Day because it’s this opportunity to share that connection with agriculture,” Glowacki says. “Really helping the general public make connections between what our students are doing in their FFA programs and the industry itself.”

This year, multiple students were chosen to represent the FFA as Speak Ag Pioneers. The nominated members are from the SpeakAg program and were selected for their passion for advocating for the industry.

“I look forward most to seeing our students making those connections on the Hill,” Glowacki continues. “It’s such an important opportunity for them to share the story of this industry. I always walk away feeling a lot of pride when I see adults be in awe of how poised and amazing our students are and know that our industry is in great hands.”

For those who cannot attend the event in person, the organization is offering a virtual option on the National FFA website.
