Five food companies, looking to bring cell-based meat to restaurants, form a coalition to advocate for the industry & educate consumers.
The groups want to raise awareness that cell-based or cell-cultured meat is grown in a lab, not a vegan-vegetarian meat alternative. The companies say the industry is in the research & development phase but expect to make products available in the next several years.
Livestock groups have voiced concern saying they welcome the competition but want to make sure the industry is appropriately regulated.
