BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (RFD News) — Tennessee Farm Bureau is highlighting the role of women in forestry during the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
Britt Townsend, director of forest resiliency with The Nature Conservancy in Tennessee, helps manage the 6,000-acre Bridgestone Nature Reserve at Chestnut Mountain for wildlife habitat, forest carbon and sustainable timber harvesting.
Townsend has worked in forestry for more than 13 years and hopes her career encourages more women to see a place for themselves in the profession.
