Lock and dam sites are closing due to flooding on the Mississippi River.
Increased precipitation coupled with an above average snow melt has led to high levels south of Minneapolis and along the Iowa Illinois border.
Mike Steenhoek with the Soy Transportation Coalition says while this is not a major concern for shipping grain right now, a lot of fertilizer is brought up the Mississippi. Steenhoek says closures are expected now through the second week of May.
