Happy World Cotton Day!

October 7th is World Cotton Day!

The event was celebrated in Vienna this week with a theme of ‘Making Cotton Fair and Sustainable For All... From Farm to Fashion.’ The Director General of the FAO says the celebration is an opportunity to enhance the efficiency, inclusivity, resilience and sustainability of the cotton sector.

Global demand of the crop is expected to increase each year by 1.8 percent over the next decade. The industry already has 32 million growers and benefits more than 100 million families across 80 countries in five continents.
