Hay growers avoid severe impact of coronavirus pandemic

The hay industry has not yet been too hit too hard by the coronavirus pandemic and for the most part, its business as usual.

“All of the things that we need to do our job our still open and available,” said Andrew Eddie, the Vice President of the Washington State Hay Growers Association. “Not too much has changed, there’s a little bit of uncertainty.....but for the most part we’re just doing the same job we did before every thing broke out.”

The Washington State Hay Growers Association says supply chains have seen a few issues, but the major issue will come later in the season because travel restrictions may prevent potential customers from viewing the crop. Hay producers say it may be difficult to sell something no one has seen.

Hay
