Holy Cow! Michigan Rancher’s Shorthorn Cow, Trish, Delivers Twin Calves Three Years in a Row

Rancher David Kroa of One Man Ranch joins us to share the story of his remarkable Shorthorn cow, Trish, who is beating the odds.

NILES, MICH. (RFD-TV) — A Michigan rancher is sharing the remarkable story of a cow that’s beating the odds. David Kroa of One Man Ranch says his Shorthorn cow, Trish, has done something most producers will never see: she has delivered twin calves three years in a row. Kroa joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to share her story.

In his interview with RFD-TV News, Kroa explained Trish’s streak began in 2023 when she gave birth to twin bull calves. The following year, she delivered twin heifers sired by his Miniature Hereford bull — a bull that, he notes, can successfully breed a full-sized cow. Then, in November of this year, Trish surprised him yet again with another set of twins.

Kroa explains that this kind of consistency is extremely uncommon, making Trish’s story all the more noteworthy. He also shared background on his operation in Michigan, how long he has been farming, and how current cold conditions are shaping day-to-day work on the ranch. As winter approaches, he says he is focused on the usual seasonal tasks and caring for his herd.

Kroa hopes viewers take away the simple joy and encouragement that can come from moments like this — reminders of the unexpected and extraordinary things that can happen on family operations across the country.
