Honoring Veterans: Sgt. Bill Strunk

Sgt. Strunk served as a gunner aboard an M48A2 tank while stationed in Germany during the Cold War as part of the US 3rd Infantry Division.

On this Veterans Day, 2024, we want to honor, among all those who’ve served our country as part of the military, Sgt. Bill Strunk. An Illinois native who now resides in Tennessee, he served as a gunner aboard an M48A2 tank while stationed in Germany during the Cold War as part of the US 3rd Infantry Division.

Strunk describes his enlistment in the Army as “hurried,” with a brief basic and company training before being shipped off to Europe in 1959, during the Cold War.

RFD-TV is thankful for all of our veterans and their dedication for preserving and protecting our freedoms as Americans!
