HPAI is found in three more Michigan dairy herds

Animal health officials have confirmed three more dairy herds have contracted High Path Avian Flu. The additional cases are in Michigan, which was the second state to confirm that the virus had jumped from birds to dairy cattle.

The latest cases are in three separate counties, and APHIS now reports 26 dairy cattle cases across the United States. Michigan’s Ag Director says the news is unfortunate for dairy farmers, and says everyone must be on high alert.

The state’s veterinarian says with proper care, the cows should recover, but says bio-security measures are still the best line of defense.
