Indiana Conservation Officer Ryan John is investigating after a bullet struck a protected bald eagle.
The eagle was found alive but eventually died from the wound, the Indiana DNR announced Sunday.
A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest, however the dollar amount was not released.
The punishment for killing a bald eagle is up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $100,000.
