JBS removes ractopamine from its U.S. pork supply in an effort to increase export opportunities to China as African Swine Fever slashes herds.
Ractopamine, an FDA-approved feed supplement, is used in production to raise leaner pork. The meat-packer banned the feed additive in its Brazilian production systems last year. JBS competitors, like Smithfield, have already pulled the drug from its production.
