Former ag workers in Louisiana are suing the makers of paraquat, saying that it caused Parkinson’s disease.
Today, a judicial panel will hear arguments about whether the cases should be transferred to a single judge for pre-trial hearings.
One of the plaintiffs is a former LSU Extension employee. They claim they were exposed to the chemical for years and Chevron and Syngenta failed to warn them about the risk of Parkison’s.
They are seeking punitive damages for deceptive and unlawful marketing practices. An LSU study last year found a connection between Parkinson’s and paraquat.
