Louisiana is granted power to approve carbon capture wells from the Biden Administration

The Biden Administration has granted the state of Louisiana power to approve carbon capture wells.

This comes at a time when the state’s energy sector wants to make the Gulf Coast a hub for the rapidly expanding industry. The change will allow faster approvals of new projects that are crucial in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The EPA is responsible for permitting in all but two other states and says this agreement includes safeguards to protect poorer communities that live near the facilities.
