An activist known as the ‘Dreadhead Cowboy’ was arrested Monday after delaying traffic by riding a horse on a Chicago highway during rush hour.

According to WGN, Adam Hollinsworth, 33, rode his horse NuNu on the Dan Ryan Expressway with a motorcycle escort for 30 minutes before being arrested by Illinois State Police.

Hollinsworth, who is known in the area for riding a horse to protests, was attempting to raise awareness for the rise of gun violence on children in Chicago. Hollinsworth called it a “Kids Lives Matter” protest. He faces charges of reckless conduct, trespassing and disobeying a police officer.

Another man, 55-year-old Darren Luster, was arrested after refusing to let go of the horse’s reigns.

According to WGN, the horse had multiple injuries, including to its hooves and side of its body. It is now in the Chicago Animal Care and Control.
