Mississippi’s alligator hunting season is off to a HUGE start. On the second day, a group of four hunters brought in a massive gator that has set a new state record.
Tanner White, Don Woods, Will Thomas, and Joey Clark were out on the Yazoo River when they harvested a 14' 3" gator weighing in at 802.5 pounds!
The previous record from 2017 was just over 14 feet and weighed in at 766.5 pounds.
“We hooked him eight or nine times and he kept breaking off. He would go down, sit and then take off. He kept going under logs. He knew what he was doing. The crazy thing is he stayed in the same spot,” Woods explained.
Alligator hunting for sport started in 2005 and runs from August 25th to September 4th.
