RFD-TV’s Janet Adkison has the latest reports on meat plant closures due to COVID-19 cases.
Colin Woodall, the CEO of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, stated, “Plant closures or slow-downs have significant regional and national implications that will ripple through the market place.”
We previously reported on the status of a JBS USA plant in Colorado that had two employees die from the coronavirus; it planed to reopen after receiving the test results of all its employees. The plant will now be closed through April 24th.
The Tama, Iowa National Beef packing plant will be closed through April 20th.
The Tyson Columbus Junction pork plant is closed through the rest of this week.
Many plants with confirmed cases are implementing heavier cleaning and sanitizing protocols. There have been confirmed cases at the following plants: Kansas’ National Beef Plant in Liberal and Dodge City, and Lincoln’s Premium Poultry plant in Nebraska.
