MITCHELL, Neb. (RFD News) — For commercial beekeepers, producing honey is anything but stationary.
At Kiowa Honey Company, Manuel and Carissa Prieto move thousands of bee colonies between California and Nebraska every six months. The operation follows the bloom each season, with the bees beginning the year in California before returning for the summer honey crop.
The Prietos say caring for thousands of hives is a year-round job, and despite the long drives and challenges that come with agriculture, the cross-country journey has become a way of life for their family.
