Miles Apart: Beef and pork exports are off to opposite starts this year

Beef and pork exports are off to opposite starts this year.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation says in January, pork exports were up 13 percent on the year. Their export value jumped 16 percent during that time. Drive those increases was Mexico, which imported 11 percent more pork compared to last year.

Beef exports on the other hand fell 15 percent on the year with export values down 32 percent. The group says the decline was mainly driven by a lack of exports to Asia.
