Missouri farmers recover after 2019 flooding, brace for another potentially difficult year

The Missouri Farm Bureau talked to farmers on how they are recouping from flooding from last year and how they are readying themselves this year.

Many farmers faced severe flooding in the state in 2019. Some in the northwest part of the state were only able to 20 percent of their acres planted and were underwater for about four months.

“This year is going to tell a lot,” Holt County farmer Jason Kurtz said. “We went through one hard year and to go through another one back-to-back, it’s going to be awful rough to not have an income two years in a row.”
