Time is running out for farmers to sign up for critical USDA safety net programs.
Monday is the application deadline for several commodities under Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage programs. The FSA Administrator says that between the two offerings, farmers received more than $5 billion dollars in 2019.
According to Administrator Zach Ducheneaux, “There is covered crop commodities including wheat, oats, barley, corn, grain, grain sorghum, several others, and we got fact sheets at Farmers.gov that will help you understand exactly what crops are covered.”
The University of Illinois and Texas A&M created online decision tools to help you determine which program works best for your farm.
