More milk options for school kids

One of the largest dairy coops in the country urged Congress to help broaden the milk options children have in school. The call comes after USDA released new dietary guidelines last week.

President of Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative, Brody Stapel speaks with RFD-TV’s own Janet Adkison on the new dairy guidelines, what he would like to see going forward, and the importance of dairy in a child’s diet.

“We are a little bit disappointed with the updated guidelines...,” Stapel states. “The limit on dairy in the fat category, or reduced fat options, we were a little disappointed there. The science has really been changing over the years to recognize the benefits of fuller fat dairy, but unfortunately, the updated guidelines are not reflecting that.”
