Multiple groups supporting American Food For American Schools Act as it is introduced to the Senate

American Food for American Schools!

There is now legislation in the Senate that would require the purchase of domestically sourced items for all in-school meals.
Bill co-sponsor Senator Sherrod Brown says that she wants to see kids fed better.

This legislation has already been introduced in the House and lawmakers behind it say it could actually make school meals more affordable as local food means lower costs on transportation and storage.

Several ag groups, including the American Farm Bureau, the American Fruit and Vegetable Processors and Growers Coalition, and the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives support the act.
