NCBA speaks out against President Trump’s remarks towards U.S. cattle ranchers

The largest cattle group in the United States is speaking out against President Trump and his recent social media post, targeted towards U.S. cattle ranchers.

In a post to Truth Social, the President said the cattle ranchers “don’t understand” their benefits from the tariffs, and says they “have to get their prices down.” It all comes amid some ranchers’ criticism against President Trump’s proposal to import beef from Argentina, with the goal of bringing down grocery prices for consumers.

In a press release, NCBA CEO Colin Woodall calls on the President and Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins to let the markets handle it.

“The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and its members cannot stand behind the President while he undercuts the future of family farmers and ranchers by importing Argentinian beef in an attempt to influence prices. It is imperative that President Trump and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins let the cattle markets work.”

He is also calling on the President to shift his focus to the issues at hand for ranchers.

“If President Trump is truly an ally of America’s cattle producers, we call on him to abandon this effort to manipulate markets and focus instead on the promised New World Screwworm facilities in Texas; making additional investments that protect the domestic cattle herd from foreign animal diseases such as FMD; and addressing regulatory burdens, such as delisting of the gray wolf and addressing the scourge of black vultures.”
