A fire at Wes and Wanda Pitcher’s hog operation in Gila IL killed nearly 10,000 hogs yesterday.
According to 979 XFM, the fire started around 8:30 am and was put out around noon. The cause is yet to be determined.
No humans were injured in the blaze, but an estimated 6,000 weaning pigs and over 3,500 breeding stock were lost. A farrowing building and office were also destroyed.
