New Ag Labor Bill Introduced

RFD-TV’s John Jenkinson has the break down of a new agricultural labor bill being introduced by Republicans. The new bill is called the Labor Certainty for Food Security Act.

Congressman Ted Yoho from Florida says that this bill would not affect citizenship status. However, the bill is said to separate the immigration factor from other ag labor bills and provides reassurance of a legal labor force in agriculture. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue is a supporter of the bill.

Among the more crucial provisions of the bill: ag visa authority would be shifted from the Labor Department over to the USDA, worker capacity would be dropped, and no wage requirements. While the bill is currently circulating through several committees, there is, as of yet, no counterpart sponsoring it in the Senate.
