New Congress, but same issues facing agriculture

The American Farm Bureau Federation is working with the incoming administration in Washington, but they say that the issues remain the same.

Executive Vice President Dale Moore says that the Farm Bill, crop insurance, trade, broadband, and regulatory reform are still the top priorities in ag communities, and even though bipartisan support will be difficult this year he says they are ready to fight for farmers.

“We’re going to be up on Capitol Hill, talking to those who have been appointed into leadership positions,” Moore states. “You look at both the House and Senate Ag Committees, there are going to be new chairs, new ranking members, depending on how everything sorts itself out. Their expectation is, we’re going to be up on the Hill working with those leaders, to push forward on the issues that are so important to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.”

Moore says that one uncertainty is COVID-19 and how billions in new farm aid will be spent helping ag sectors recover.
