The Cowboy Chanel + Livestream of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo went down last night around 9:15pm ET. It was the result of a hostile third-party attacking our system designed to slow it down, NOT to gather data. While the outage did not affect all NFR Streaming pass subscribers, those it did affect have every right to be frustrated and upset.
Here’s what you should know:
- We have increased our security measures and added additional layers of redundancy to prevent this or other attacks from happening again.
- We are confident that no customer data was affected by this attack.
- We are working hard to return every voice mail, email, and social media message we received last night.

Many callers received “Our office is closed” message when they were unable to get through. Rural Media Group, Inc. has always prided itself on its customer service. We believe you should be able to pick up the phone and talk to a real human and we do not outsource our customers to large call centers like many other companies. We had customer support representatives answering phone calls and emails until well past 11pm ET last night. However, our customer service team and telephone system simply was not prepared for the volume of calls and emails that were received due to this attack on our system. We are working to increase our support for the remaining 9 days of the NFR so that our customers get the support they need when they need it.
