Plans to Reopen: An update on locks and dams along the Mississippi River

Flooding is still taking place along the Mighty Mississippi, but the majority of locks and dams are reopening.

A very wet winter caused an above average snow melt along the waterway, with many communities reporting record high levels and many locks and dams having to halt shipments. The American Commercial Barge Line expects most of those locks to reopen this week though, with another reopening in the next two weeks.

The ag industry has been concerned about exporting what grains farmers have left and shipping fertilizer up north.
