Lecile Harris, a well-known ProRodeo clown has died at the age of 83.
A Facebook post says Harris passed away peacefully Wednesday night in his sleep after completing the Dixie Nationals Rodeo.
Harris began his career as a bullrider and bullfighter, but after an injury in the area at 52-years-old he became a rodeo clown.
Harris earned the nickname of “The Dean of Rodeo Clowns,” and was the PRCA Clown of the Year in 1992, 1994, 1951 and 1996.
Harris was one of the busiest men in rodeo, performing at more than 100 rodeos a year at the height of his career.
In 2007 Harris was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
Rest in Peace, Lecile.
