Providing Transparency and Loyalty: France is working to end misleading meatless claims

France is working to put an end to misleading meat claims.

The country revised its proposal that would ban the use of meat names for plant-based food made in the country. Twenty-one meat names would be prohibited including steak, spare ribs, and ham.
However, more than 120 names like cooked ham and bacon will still be allowed as long as the products do not exceed a certain percentage of plant proteins.

The French Ag Ministry hopes this provides transparency and loyalty to consumers.
