Real Ag Radio: Transport Canada seeks feedback on Bunge-Vittera deal

Sean Haney, host of Rural Radio Channel 147’s Real Ag Radio, joined RFD-TV’s Market Day Report on Thursday morning to explain the major merger agreement between the grain transportation giants in detail.

Transport Canada has launched public consultations on Bunge’s proposed $8.1 billion dollar acquisition of Viterra.

Host of Rural Radio Channel 147’s Real Ag Radio, Sean Haney joined RFD-TV’s Market Day Report on Thursday morning to explain the major merger agreement between the grain giants in detail. In his conversation with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander, Haney discusses Canada’s public consultation process, what specific comments Transport Canada is seeking, as well as how the agency’s parallel work around the merger differs with that of Canada’s Competition Bureau.

According to Haney, the merger between the two companies is raising concerns under the Canadian Transportation Act on how it may negatively impact the country’s transportation industry. For instance, if it could potentially hinder farmers’ ability to get grain to the coast and export markets.
