Ag lenders might have a blind spot when it comes to farmers who “go green”. That is according to a new report from the Environmental Defense Fund, highlighting opportunities to better finance ag.
The author of the report, Maggie Monast, speaks with RFD-TV’s own John Jenkinson on the finding from the report and the different ways to mitigate the risks associated with climate change. According to Monast, “Climate change both threatens farmers and creates financial risks for their lenders, and lenders have a blind spot when it comes to climate risks. However, the good news is that farmers can build resilience, and we find that lenders have an important role to play, in recognizing the financial value of resilient agriculture and incorporating that into their decision making and loan products.”
